I believe the types of cleaners you use make a huge difference in your well being, especially when considering that they touch the surfaces you use to eat, sleep, and relax. Using essential oils to make homemade cleaning products means that not only are these products natural, but they are also cost-effective, eco-friendly, and make your home smell really good.

Less packaging and chemicals result in a more sustainable planet and a healthier home—these are values that I am passionate about, especially for young families.

When it comes to bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room sinks (where so much of a home’s action happens), I love this recipe for keeping things sparkling. It doesn’t completely disinfect, but cleans with the added benefits of aroma and makes the surfaces shine.

NATURAL SINK SCRUB

1/2 cup baking soda

1/2 cup solid coconut oil

10 drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil

10 drops Spruce Essential Oil

Method

  1. Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Transfer the mixture to an airtight container.
  3. Sprinkle one or two tablespoons of the mixture to your sink and scrub clean with a cloth or reusable sponge.
  4. Rinse with water.
  5. Enjoy a sink that is sparkling clean and smells oh-so good.
