Gee Beauty is a little bit of everything. It’s makeup, it’s skincare, it’s wellness, it’s spa services—all wrapped up in one beautiful bow. With physical locations in Miami (this writer was lucky enough to visit a few years ago) and the company’s home of Toronto, Gee is an arbiter of cosmetic cool. And that means its team is, too—including Toronto office administrator Chantal Walton.

After cutting her teeth at Sephora, Walton joined the Gee team and now manages the company’s ecommerce, receives new inventory (including vitruvi products), helps ensure the day-to-day operations run smoothly, ships products to Miami, keeps a close eye on inventory, and creates weekly reports. Just to name a few of her tasks.

Her day job is hectic, undoubtedly, so when she gets home, she likes to scent her space with something airy, fresh, and peaceful. Read on for her customized aroma.

Scent is so personal. What does it mean to you?

Depending on the mood I am in, it can be uplifting, sensual, or relaxing.

Describe your personality in three to five words.

I am a shy, quirky, and independent individual.

With those words in mind, tell us about the diffuser cocktail that you’ve created to represent your scent style.

I really like scents that either stimulate my mind or relax it. I really enjoy Peppermint Essential Oil and Frankincense Essential Oil; my base was majorly Peppermint, because I wanted that relaxing scent. Then I added some Frankincense.

Why did you choose each of these oils and how do they work together? What does the final aroma smell like or remind you of?

Because my days are usually mentally exhausting, I like to relax and reset my mind at the end of the day, and this cocktail was relaxing for me. It’s a very fresh and airy scent.

What room do you diffuse this scent in and when do you diffuse it?

I usually diffuse it in my room, so that at the end of the day after my shower, I can lay in my bed and take a few deep breaths—and just let go and release my mind of the day’s stress.

Aside from scent, what else makes you feel truly at home in your space?

The comfort of my bed. I love curling into my bed with a good self-help book.

What’s your favourite thing about your home?

How peaceful it can be. I can just go into my room and be alone and sit in peace.
