Sitting in your car, using your laptop in bed, improper ergonomics at your work desk—it’s really easy to catch yourself with bad posture and a sore body as a result. With a tight neck and tight schedule, it isn’t always an option to make an appointment for a massage or chiropractor. But there are some home (or office) tricks that will give you at least some relief until you can get in for a massage.
Eucalyptus Essential Oil is cooling and does a great job of loosening muscles, which in turn helps you relax. Here are some soothing ways to use it when your body needs some TLC.
For neck and shoulder pain or stiffness
Rub a few drops of Eucalyptus on your hands and press lightly on the fleshy area between your thumb and index finger, and in the sunken part between your wrists at the end of your forearm bones. Also give yourself a light massage on the back of your neck and shoulders where you can reach, or have someone you love massage them for you.
For poor circulation
Rub a few drops Eucalyptus in these areas (maybe your feet or hands?) to stimulate blood flow.
For fighting a cold
The cooling properties of Eucalyptus alone are a welcomed relief if you’re feeling overheated from sickness, but you can also apply a few drops and rub the soles of your feet when you’ve been hit with the cold train. You might find that dabbing a very small amount on your temples (careful to stay away from your eyes) and at the base of your neck when you’re feeling ill or have a headache is soothing, too.
For achy joints
Massage a few drops of Eucalyptus into any joints that need a little attention after a long day.
To wind down
Put a few drops of Eucalyptus on your wrists before bed and inhale for tranquility. You can mix it with water (and Lavender, if you wish) in a spray bottle and spritz on your pillow and blankets as a natural linen spray. Sleep well so that can get back to doing what you do best.
