Lavender and Lemon Dryer Sheets

There’s something so lovely about warm clothes fresh out of the dryer; it’s the definition of cozy. Most people use regular dryer sheets to scent their clothes, which can be packed with chemicals that are added to help the scent stay. One whiff of a regular dryer sheet and you can tell how intensely concentrated the smell is. So, like always, we gravitate towards a more natural option: homemade dryer sheets scented with essential oils. These are super easy to make, and you can do five of them at a time so they’re always on hand.

While this recipe works great to scent your clothes, we also love throwing one of the sheets in with our towels while we’re taking a bath, so that when we emerge we’re wrapped in a wonderful-smelling cocoon of warmth. Dreamy, right?

LAVENDER AND LEMON DRYER SHEETS

1 cup white vinegar

15 drops Lemon Essential Oil

15 drops Lavender Essential Oil

2-5 fabric scraps

1 Mason jar

How to use them

  1. Add the vinegar and essential oils to the Mason jar and mix with a spoon.
  2. Add the pieces of fabric into the vinegar solution.
  3. Store extra fabric sheets in the jar with a lid.
  4. Next time you’re throwing a load into the dryer, add one piece of fabric to it (make sure to wring out any extra liquid solution before you place it in the dryer). The heat from the dryer will make the vinegar scent disappear, and your clothes will smell F-R-E-S-H.
