A Trio of Mocktails

A Trio of Mocktails

We don’t think alcohol is necessarily needed to make beverages feel special. So here are some delicious mocktail recipes to keep your evenings feeling fancy and your mornings hangover-free.

Pom Pom Soda

This light mocktail is super fresh, and is free of artificial sugars.

Ingredients (per drink)

  • 2-4 leaves fresh basil
  • 1 heaping tbsp pomegranate seeds
  • Soda water
  • Key limes
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a short glass, muddle the fresh basil.
  2. Cover with a layer of pomegranate seeds.
  3. Add ice to your liking.
  4. Squeeze in juice from half a key lime.
  5. Top with soda water.
  6. Stir it up and enjoy!

Gingermint Glitz

The kick of ginger, freshness of mint, and sweet tartness of pink grapefruit make this mocktail an awesome drink to serve at a party.

Ingredients (per drink)

  • Ginger beer (the spicier, the better)
  • Pink grapefruit
  • Fresh mint

Instructions

  1. Cut the grapefruit in half, then slice a half-inch round off of one side.
  2. In your favourite glass, muddle a few leaves of fresh mint.
  3. Add ice to your liking.
  4. Squeeze in juice from half of the grapefruit (make sure not to drop in any seeds).
  5. Top the glass with ginger beer.
  6. Cut the grapefruit round in half or a quarter to garnish.
Pro tip: If you really enjoy a spicy kick, add a few pieces of finely-sliced fresh ginger to your muddle.

Festive ‘Bucha

This incredibly simple drink is a great way to get in your probiotics and put a fun twist on a staple health beverage. We like to think of it as more mindful sangria.

Ingredients (per batch)

  • 2 litres of cranberry kombucha (although any flavour will do)
  • 2 blood oranges
  • 2 navel oranges, sliced, then cut in half (compost the end pieces)
  • 1 cup cranberries
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary

Instructions

  1. Cut the blood and navel oranges into one-inch slices, then cut in half again; compost the end pieces.
  2. Add orange slices to a large pitcher.
  3. Top with cranberries.
  4. Fill with kombucha.
  5. Serve in tall glasses, and garnish with fresh sprigs of rosemary.

Whatever your reason might be for not drinking, just remember that it is totally fine not to. But that does not mean you can’t have a little sipping fun.
