You know those people you just instantly click with? Those fast friends who you feel like you’ve known for way longer than you have? That’s Firina Achor for me.

She’s magic in every sense of the word: charismatic, alluring, powerful, wise, comforting, stunning. The Vancouver-based model and publicist works with a curated list of clients (both in front of the camera and behind the scenes); focusing on brands and people she truly believes in, she is able to keep passion and authenticity at the forefront of everything she does. She also doesn’t mince words, which is something else I love and admire about her. She is who she is, no matter what. Here’s how she scents her home.

Scent is so personal. What does it mean to you?

To me, scent holds memories. I am pretty sensitive to smell; I can smell anything from far away. I love when a scent is refreshing and strong, and has a bit of character. Scent holds a space in my memory—people I’ve met, places I’ve been. It kind of connects people; it tells a story of spaces and people.

Describe your personality in three to five words.

Unapologetic, honest, vibrant, and forward-focused.

With those words in mind, tell us about the diffuser blend that you’ve created to represent your scent style.

My experimentation process is quite simple. I start off with five to 10 drops of each oil, and will add a few more here and there. I love how having a diffuser on can change the smell and energy of a room. I am very mindful of that.

Why did you choose each of these oils and how do they work together? What does the final aroma smell like or remind you of?

The scent I chose for our living space is more vibrant, with lots of citrus in the mix: Moonbeam or Retreat, and sometimes I’ll add extra drops of Spruce or Eucalyptus. For our bedroom, I like to pick something calmer, because I love that our bedroom can be a place to just chill and read. On days we aren’t feeling well, we can relax and reset—and, of course, sleep. During the day, I combine Grove and Mixed Feelings, and closer to the evening I’ll add a few drops of Dusk; the Lavender in that blend is so great for nighttime.

What room do you diffuse this scent in and when do you diffuse it?

We have two diffusers in our home: one in the bedroom and the other in the living area. I like having the diffuser going in the bedroom while we are out of the house; the smell when you come home is so welcoming and different. Closer to bedtime, it sets the mood for relaxation. The diffuser in our living area is basically going all the time. First thing in the morning after one of us takes our dog out for a walk, I’ll put it on. It helps me stay awake while I am working from home and keeps our place smelling vibrant throughout the day.

Aside from scent, what else makes you feel truly at home in your space?

My fiance and our dog Beau. They’re my people; they make this space the way it is, and they make me feel at home wherever we are. Especially on quieter days, seeing our dog nap throughout our space brings me so much comfort.

What’s your favorite thing about your home?

My favourite thing about my home is how calm it is. It’s a space that we’ve created in which we can always feel safe and at peace.
